Introduction to Canoe Polo Rules

The “Introduction to Canoe Polo Rules” is to be completed by player, coach or official as an awareness requirement prior to taking part in the first national competition in the national calendar year. Note: this is not a formal refereeing qualification required to officiate at any level.


This program is regarded as a prerequisite for completing training and assessment within the Australian Canoe Polo Referee Qualification Program.

If you haven’t registered for this program you will need to register here. This is currently separate to any club membership account. After registration, you will be taken to a landing page and receive an email with login details to the education site. Following this email you will receive details of the program link and login. This may take up to 24 hours.

Foundation Coach: Flatwater

Paddle Australia is delighted to deliver the online Foundation Coach: Flatwater course.  The course is designed to enable the beginner coach to gain their Foundation Coach qualification after successful completion of all requirements.

Prerequisites:

  • Hold the PA Introduction to Coaching qualification.
  • Supporting letter from a club committee member or head coach to confirm that you have conducted a minimum of 8 coaching sessions under the supervision of a Foundation, Level 1 or higher Flatwater Coach.

To register in the program please click here and under Flatwater Foundation Coach, select your state Once the course fees are paid, you will then be able to use the same login details as the Introduction to Coaching program.

Foundation Coach: Slalom

Paddle Australia is delighted to deliver the online Foundation Coach: Slalom course.  The course is designed to enable the beginner coach to gain their Foundation Coach qualification after successful completion of all requirements.

Prerequisites:

  • Hold the PA Introduction to Coaching qualification.
  • Supporting letter from a club committee or state performance hub coach that supports that the coach has coached a minimum of 8 training sessions as lead or assistant coach.

To register in the program please click here and under Slalom Foundation Coach, select your state, Once the course fees are paid, you will then be able to use the same login details as the Introduction to Coaching program.

After completing the Foundation Slalom Coaches course you will be able to:

  • Implement effective foundation coaching strategies.
  • Understand foundation principles of slalom technique, including posture, balance, transmission and boat control.
  • Create a safe and effective learning environment for slalom athletes.
  • Prepare, conduct and review an appropriate and effective foundation slalom training session.
  • Lead an appropriate warm up for a group of foundation athletes.
  • Understand how to introduce athletes to the skills involved in rolling.
  • Introduce athletes to the safe entry and exit from the boat.
  • Introduce, refine and establish effective long term habits for the basic strokes of slalom.
  • Communicate well with slalom athletes, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Understand the fundamentals of slalom equipment and how to adapt equipment to individual needs and situations.
  • Recommend equipment appropriate for the athletes’ developmental stage and physical size.

Introductory Coach

Paddle Australia is delighted to deliver the Introduction to Coaching course.  The course is designed to enable the beginner coach to gain their Introductory Coach qualification after successful completion of all requirements.

To register in the program you will need to the here and select the appropriate state under Introduction to Coaching, You will then create an account in the PA Education system. This is currently separate to any club membership account. After registration, you will be taken to a landing page and receive an email with login details to the education site. Following this email you will receive details of the program link and login once PA confirms your membership. This may take up to 24 hours.

Sporting Schools Supervisor

Paddle Australia is delighted to deliver the Sporting Schools Supervisor course.  The course is designed to enable registered teachers to deliver Paddle Discovery and Paddle Ball via the Sporting School funding.

To register in the program, you will need to create an account in the PA Education system. After registration, you will be taken to a landing page and receive an email with login details to the education site. Following this email, you will receive an invoice for the program fees. Once the fees are paid, you will receive details of the program link and specific login details.
