It’s important to match the paddler’s size and volume requirements with the appropriate craft. Large paddlers typically require a larger volume craft, while smaller paddlers may need a smaller volume craft. Care should be taken to ensure optimal performance and comfort for the paddler.
Moving craft
Loading and unloading of craft can be the most hazardous part of a paddling program.
Craft is often stored high on trailers or racking systems and care must be taken to move them. Along with this height, a craft can weigh 15 – 35 kg with lengths of sometimes over 6 m.
The safest way to unload, load and carry a craft is to do so with a minimum of 2 people.
